Joel Meyerowitz Joel Meyerowitz is an American photographer who was born in 1938. He was one of the earliest supporters of color photography and advocated for it even in a time of immense pushback against it. He is most well known for his street photography, as well as his portraits and landscapes. He also taught photography later in his career at the Cooper Union located in New York City. (Wikipedia) The first image I am choosing to talk about is this one. One thing I love about this image is the combination of different lighting included in it. Sunset is always a beautiful time to photograph and the pink clouds look cool in this photo. Additionally, I just that he included neon lights from a store. I also like how the green from the lights and roof contrast with the pink in the sky. The other thing I really like about this photo is the reflections of the lights in the cars. I think they added another compositional element that the photo would otherwise be missing. The o...

Steve McCurry Steve McCurry is an American photographer who was born in 1950. He was born in Philadelphia and went to Penn State and switched from cinematography to theatre. He became interested in photography after college when he was working for the Penn State newspaper company. McCurry focused a lot on traveling to different places and capturing people in their authentic cultures and also how war can affect humans. Another thing I really like about this photo is the framing of the child. With walls on either side, it forces our eyes to travel along them and toward the child quickly. The last thing I really like about this photo is the movement that the handprints on the wall create. Because they go backward into the...

What inspires me? There are many things that inspire photographers including their surroundings, passions, and even emotions. Each photographer has their own process of how they become inspired, captures their moments, and present them. I feel like I draw a lot of my inspiration from what going on in the environment around me and also from what I feel most passionate about. I also think sometimes even if you don’t get inspired you have to go out and start shooting and it often times comes to you later.           One of the main things that inspires my photographs is my environment. I know that when I take pictures, I love capturing people and freezing moments. My favorite kinds of pictures are candid ones so when I see people unposed and natural and happy where they are, that is one of the greatest inspirations to me. This is because I know I will probably be able to capture a moment that otherwise wouldn't be able to be captured. Another thing that rea...
